Accelerated BA

The B.A. in Religious Studies can be completed in four semesters.

If you are a transfer student from a community college or are in a hurry to graduate, then this accelerated program of study may be for you. Please see the Schedule of Classes for details in constructing your schedule; and visit with our undergraduate advisors at your earliest convenience.

Semester 1 (Fall): Three classes for 9 units

  • RELS 200 Religions of South Asia (3 units)
  • RELS 300 Religions of East Asia (3 units)
  • RELS 306 Roots of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (3 units)

Semester 2 (Spring): Three classes for 9 units

  • RELS 308 Judaism, Christianity, and Islam since the Crusades (3 units)
  • RELS 322 Religion in America (3 units)
  • RELS 323 Religion and Nature (3 units)

Semester 3 (Fall): Three classes for 9 units

  • RELS 403 Religion and the Arts (3 units) OR RELS 404 Religion, Science, and Technology (3 units)
  • RELS 405 Religion, Politics, and Conflict (3 units)
  • RELS 480 Theories and Criticisms of Religion (3 units)

Semester 4 (Spring): Two classes for 7 units

  • RELS 402 Religion, Sex, and Gender (3 units)
  • RELS 482 Capstone: Religion, Public Life, and the Professions (4 units)
