Frequently Asked Questions

Billing

Q.How much does a new telephone line or computer network connection cost?
A. Please see our Current Rates. For more information, contact Communications Account Services (CASV) at casvadmin@csuchico.edu or call x6868

Q. How can I see what my department has been charged for phone and network service?
A. CSRV has an Admin Telecom Billing Web site that each department on campus has access to. If you are the representative for your department and you don't yet have access, please email CASV.

Q. How do I get access to the Admin Telecom Billing Web site?
A. Please contact CASV at casvadmin@csuchico.edu and provide the DeptID you need to access.  Once the access is set up you will be contacted and provided a user manual to help you understand the reports available to view your monthly charges.

Q. I have access to the Admin Telecom Billing Web site but I can't get in.
A. The Admin Telecom Billing Web site uses the same User ID and password as your Exchange or portal account. One possible reason you may not be able to login is that you have recently changed your Exchange and Portal password. If that does not resolve the issue you are having with access, please contact CASV at x6868.

Network

Q. Who do I call and how much will it cost to have a computer network connection installed in my office?
A. Please call User Services at x6000 and open a Service Request. TSRV will come out and complete the work necessary to get the connection to the location you need it. TSRV charges $45 per hour plus material costs. For the ongoing monthly charges, please refer to our Current Rates.

Telephone

Q. How do I get a new telephone line?
A. Call User Services at x6000 and tell them what you need.  They will open a service request and TSRV will contact you to arrange for the work to be performed.

Q. I've been told to submit a CAF. What is that paying for?
A. A CAF is necessary to pay for the time and materials needed for TSRV to complete your request. For the ongoing monthly service, you will be billed in the Admin Telecom Billing Web site.

Q. The buttons on my phone don't work. Who do I call?
A. Please call User Services at x6000 and they will open a Service Request.

Q. My Supervisor has asked me to start wearing a headset when I answer the phone. Do you have headsets I can choose from?
A. Yes, we have several headsets compatible with the University phone sets. Please see our Headset (pdf) page to find one you like. When you have one picked out, call User Services at x6000 to open a Service Request and your order will be placed.

Q. I need to conduct a conference call from our conference room on campus, but there's no phone in that room. What do I need to do?
A. Please call User Services at x6000 and open a Service Request. TSRV will determine if a phone line already exists in that room, or give you the option of having a line installed. Once a line is in place, TSRV has a conference phone that they will loan you to conduct your call.

Q. For my conference call, I need several people to call me. How do I conference them all into one call?
A. CASV offers a conference calling service where you provide all the participants with an 800 number to call. Once you are ready to conference them together, you call in as well. For more information, call CASV at x6868
