Dr. Sevier is the Director of Workforce Development & Operations for the California State University Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB).  This 23-campus, state-wide program supports CSU biotechnology students and faculty with over a million dollars a year in grants and programs that foster joint ventures with the biotechnology industry, curriculum development, workshops and student research.  CSUPERB sponsors a scientific symposium each January that is attended by over 200 CSU faculty members and 250 CSU students presenting over 100 scientific papers.

Dr. Sevier has 23 years experience in biotechnology starting with BioSciences Laboratories in 1976 developing clinical laboratory testing systems.   He was one of the earliest Hybritech Incorporated scientists and was involved in product development, product approval and technical education of both customers and employees.  Prior to joining San Diego State University and the CSUPERB group, he was a consultant helping bring new products to market and developing data handling systems for Northern California biotechnology companies.

Dr. Sevier is a member of the Hybritech President’s Club, a recipient of the Hybritech Team-Excellence Quality award and instrumental in training more than 700 employees in management, quality and team techniques.  He presently sits on the Workforce and Education Committee of BIOCOM/sandiego.
