REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The CSU Biotechnology Symposium will be held January 11 - 13, 2008 at the Oakland Marriott City Center [map].
CSU students and faculty presenting any biotechnology-related project are
invited to attend and present posters.The symposium highlights include
two poster sessions (200 posters total) featuring undergraduate, masters’
and doctoral
research projects. (Poster abstract application is now CLOSED).
NEW THIS YEAR:
- Registration fee of $50.00 for faculty, administrators, and students not presenting a poster
- Registration limited for students

Registration Application Deadline: November 26, 2007
To register: Go to the online Registration Application Site and follow the instructions. If you need help, you may click on the information icons, , on the registration site pages for help screens.
This year a $50 registration fee will be charged for all CSU and CA Community College faculty and administrators, and for students who are not presenting a poster (the symposium registration fee will be waived for students presenting posters that have been accepted).
The online Registration
Application site will accept and confirm all Faculty upon
submission of their registration application and payment of the registration
fee.
Due to over-capacity interest in the past, CSUPERB must now limit registration at the Annual CSU Biotechnology Symposium. Consequently, Students will not be confirmed upon submission of their registration application. After
the registration deadline, November 26, 2007, students will receive an email informing them of their registration status.
Students will be accepted in the following order of priority:
1. CSU/CCC students who are presenting authors on a poster.
2. CSU/CCC students who are non-presenting authors on a poster.
3. CSU students who are not authors on a poster.
4. CCC students who are not authors on a poster.
MEALS AND LODGING FOR CSU FACULTY AND STUDENT REGISTRANTS
Meals and lodging at the Oakland Marriott City Center
will be provided by CSUPERB for all confirmed CSU faculty and CSU student
registrants. Due to budgetary constraints, meals and lodging not
provided by CSUPERB will not be
reimbursed.
TRAVEL FOR CSU FACULTY AND STUDENTS PRESENTING POSTERS
CSUPERB will reimburse travel costs up to $150 for all accepted and confirmed CSU faculty
registrants, and for all CSU students who have accepted posters (subject to the limitation of 2 students/poster and 5 students/PI).
CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE FACULTY AND STUDENTS
Meals at the Oakland Marriott City Center are available
as part of the $50 registration charge for registered California Community
College faculty and students - subject to the registration space limitations.
Please note that for this year, the California Applied Biotechnology
Centers Initiative will be sponsoring (paying for) every CCC registrant,
but you have to register with CSUPERB. You must also note that lodging
must be booked by and paid by the attendee or group. You may be able
to have your travel subsidized by your regional director. If you don't
know who that is, check out www.cccbiotech.org for your region. Community
college attendees may make reservations directly with the Oakland Marriott
City Center at 1-800-228-9290, please ask for the CSU Biotechnology Symposium
rate.
TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT
CSUPERB will reimburse transportation costs to and from the symposium up to $150 for all accepted and confirmed CSU Faculty registrants, and for all CSU Students who have accepted posters (subject to the limitation of 2 students/poster and 5 students/PI). To minimize the cost of travel, use contracted rates whenever possible and check discount airlines such as Southwest and Jet Blue for fares which may be lower than contract rate.
Travel claim forms must be submitted by January 28, 2008, to your local campus travel clerk in order to be reimbursed.
Faculty: To be reimbursed, in addition to registering, please follow the reimbursement procedures on the Faculty Travel Reimbursement Procedures website. (You do NOT need to apply through the Faculty Travel Grants Program, nor will you need to include lodging and meals covered by CSUPERB during the Symposium). Due to budgetary constraints, meals and lodging not provided by CSUPERB will not be reimbursed.
Students Presenting Posters: A portion of the CSUPERB travel fund will be set aside to cover round-trip travel for CSU students presenting posters at the Annual CSU Biotechnology Symposium. To be reimbursed, please follow the reimbursement procedures on the Student Travel Reimbursement Procedures website. Please pay special attention to the eligibility requirements; in addition to presenting a poster, each student must be a CSU employee. If the student will not be a paid employee during the period of time of the travel to the symposium (such as teaching/research assistant or work study), the student may sign up as a voluntary employee for that time period. The student must do this prior to the travel by filling out the appropriate forms at the Personnel Office. This process may take several days, so plan accordingly. You do NOT need to apply through the Student Travel Grants Program, nor will you need to include lodging and meals covered by CSUPERB during the Symposium. Due to budgetary constraints, meals and lodging not provided by CSUPERB will not be reimbursed.
