Robert Lesman

Currently associate professor of Spanish at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, Rob Lesman holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. His areas of research interest include literary translation, translation theory, poetry and Cuban literature. He has published articles analyzing the work of Cuban authors Fina García Marruz, Lorenzo García Vega, José Rodríguez Feo, Carlos Luis, and others, and has published poems in The Cortland Review and Destiempos as well as a book chapter translation for A Companion to Luis Buñuel. He has translated numerous educational materials used in the “Reach Out” service learning project at Shippensburg, which collaborates with an elementary school in the Dominican Republic, and co-translated, with a colleague in French, a book-length poem by Michel Onfray. He also serves as an interpreter in educational and community service settings.
