"Committed to improving the quality of water in
California by seeking, developing, and promoting effective
multidisciplinary solutions to wastewater treatment and management"

Our Mission

Welcome to the California Wastewater Training and Research Center at California State University, Chico. The mission is to assist in improving water quality in California by seeking, developing, and promoting effective, multidisciplinary solutions to wastewater and waste management issues. The University Research Foundation, the College of Agriculture, the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology, and the College of Natural Sciences are partners in this undertaking.

Our Purpose

The purpose for the center is to promote the best management practices by providing training, a wastewater technology demonstration site, and a research and resource facility that serves the entire wastewater management community.

The demonstration site is located at the Paul L. Byrne Memorial Agricultural Teaching and Research Center (University Farm). This 800 acre facility is a microcosm of Northern California agriculture and provides an appropriate environment for the center. The farm also provides the opportunity for applying innovative solutions to agricultural wastewater and waste management issues.
