May 10, 2016: Bb Learn Errors

Today, the Enterprise Systems team reported an incident on the University’s NetApp storage backend, starting at 1:41 PM and lasting approximately 15 minutes. This impacted several systems across campus, including several Oracle databases and Blackboard Learn. Multiple users experienced errors during this window, including students and faculty. ITSS reports that they received several calls.

ESYS was able to restore NetApp functionality, which allowed impacted systems to resume normal operation.

DLT is already working with ESYS to migrate to a newer storage backend which should be more stable. This incident further underscores the importance of that project.
