Validation services are useful for checking the HTML you have against accepted standards and for investigating other areas in your code, such as cross-browser compatibility. Use them!

The cgi-bin directory you create should have group read, write, execute set; and world execute set. CGI script names must have a file extension of either .cgi or .pl. Example names: myscript.cgi, myperl.pl. Scripts placed in the cgi-bin directory should be group read, execute, world read, execute.
Locally, cgi programs can be written in C, Perl, Java, or UNIX shell scripts. It is assumed that you are familiar with one of these development tools before implementing cgi in your Web area. You may find the links below helpful in your programming endeavors.
