Barney Hope teaches macroeconomics, microeconomics, development economics, and international economics. His classes incorporate a variety of case studies and require students to be actively engaged with course material. WebCT serves as a technology platform to enhance classroom learning environments. Current professional endeavors include the economic/environmental analysis of critical habitat designation for vernal pools in Butte County, writing book reviews on the Vietnamese economy, and completing a journal paper dealing with a case study in land-use planning in Hawaii. Economic majors considering completing part of their academic program overseas are encouraged to drop by and chat with Professor Hope. While Professor Hope has held a number of campus administrative positions--Coordinator for the Asian Studies Program, Director for the Center for Economic Education, and Chair of the Department of Economics--he is thrilled to return to full time teaching.
