Professor Chi-Hung "Charles" Liao joined the department of economics in year 2007.  He specializes on international trade and development.
Particularly,he studies international trade patterns, quality of products in trade, and index of product's quality.  His field of interest also include pollution economics, impact of environmental regulation policy on firm level, trading of e-waste, trade dispute settlement, and tradable permits of pollutants.
Other than research, he enjoys teaching students and advising them in their career planning and graduate school application.  He likes to integrate the latest happenings around the world in class and use economic concept to explain them.  When he is not engaged in research or teaching, Professor Liao enjoys traveling with his wife and his newborn son.
