Ashkann DaneshiAshkaan Daneshi

Ashkaan Daneshi, who graduated with a BA in Economics and a BS in Project Management in 2016, is the deputy field director of Ro Khanna for Congress in the Sunnyvale Region. He received the Economics’ Department’s Outstanding Economic Student Award at graduation and during his senior year he received the Lieutenant Robert Merton Rawlins Merit Award based upon his academic scholarship and his outstanding contributions to the University. 

As a student at Chico State Ashkaan received the President’s Outstanding Student Servicve Award for his numerous contributions to volunteer efforts and the local, state, and national level. He was president of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity at Chico State. Ashkaan was project manager of Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity at the University of Washington in 2014. 

After his freshman year at Chico State Ashkaan spent the summer abroad at Chiang Mai University in Thailand. He attended the University of Washington on a National Student Exchange in his sophomore year.

Ashkaan also found time to work to help support himself as a franchise owner of College Pro Painters  in Edmonds Washington in 2014. He was survey assistant for the Sacramento River Recreational Users and business development manager for Sensoplex in Redwood City, California, in 2015. 

As a result of his achievements as an undergraduate President Obama invited Ashkaan to the White House to celebrate Nowruz, the Iranian festival of spring for the beginning of their new year. 

Sadie FosterSadie Foster

Sadie Foster graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics, a Bachelor’s with Distinction in International Relations, and Honors in General Education in 2015. After graduation her internship with Senator Jim Nielsen turned into a position as district representative for him in the California state senate.

Sadie was a student researcher for Chico State’s Center for Economic Development during the spring of 2014. She also worked as a desk attendant and as a resident adviser in Whitney Hall .

Sadie was active in Chico State’s Model United Nations where she won awards for her position papers and her participation in delegations. She was treasure of the Chico State College Republicans during her senior year. Sadie participated in Study Abroad during the summer of 2013 at the University Of Alicante , Spain.

“My Bachelor's degree in Economics helps me understand the implications of policy decisions made in the Legislature. I communicate with the constituents who are affected by our laws, especially small businesses in the North State and being able to fully understand how each law affects them helps me better serve them,” Sadie stated in a recent email.

Randall StoneRandall Stone

Randall Stone graduated in 2004 with a BA in economics and a BA in finance, and opened his own financial firm, Randall Stone Financial Planning and Real Estate in Chico, CA. While working in real estate and finance, he became interested in developing affordable housing throughout California. “As an affordable housing developer, I was responsible for managing development, financing, and entitlement processes for his affordable housing projects and for administering proposed relocation plans, coordinating with social services groups for the developments, and functioning as the primary bookkeeper and financial manager of each development,” Randall stated in describing his duties.

Randall won a seat on the Chico City Council in 2012. The Chico City Council consists of seven elected officials who serve staggered four year terms. The Mayor and Vice Mayor are voted by the other Council members, and serve two year terms. The City Council is the legislative body for the City of Chico, implementing policy and procedures, municipal laws, committee appointments, budget review, and community non-profit grant funding to name a few of the responsibilities. The City Manager and City Attorney report directly to the City Council. The City Council meets twice a month, and the agenda is approved by the Mayor.

Aleksandar TicaAleksandar M. Tica

Aleksandar M. Tica, who graduated with a BA in Economics and in History in 2015, is vice-mayor of Live Oak, California.  After graduation he was elected to the City Council to serve from 2016 until 2020.  The City Council elected him vice-mayor in 2016.  (Last Updated 8/9/17)
