Robert C. Eyler was the 1991/92 recipient of the Smale Award. He was
attracted to Chico State in 1988 by friends and the quality of the
business school. After he discovered his interests in the field of
Economics, Robert switched his major from Accounting to Economics. He felt
that the Economics Degree fulfilled all the intellectual needs he had.
After leaving Chico State, Robert earned his Masters degree and his Ph.D.
in Economics at UC Davis. Robert is now an assistant
professor of Economics at California State University Sonoma. Some of the
subjects he specializes in are monetary theory, finance, applied
macroeconomics and economic history.
Robert's interests include music, books, golf, tennis, cooking, sports and
friends. Robert said two of his fond memories of Chico are the fun
atmosphere and the great Economics department.
