John H. Rivers Jr. received the John G. Smale award in the 1995/96 academic year as an outstanding student of economics. While at Chico he also completed a major in Sociology. He was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Fraternity in Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Fraternity in Economics, and the California Scholastic Federation. John H. Rivers Jr. also served as President and Vice President of the Golden Key Honor Society and as Vice Chairman of the Associated Students Multicultural Council. He has also been named to receive the 1996 Glenn Kendall Public Service Award. John H. Rivers Jr. is currently attending law school at the University of California at Berkely.
