The Department of Education recently went through the accreditation process established by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). NCATE is recognized by the US Department of Education as the accrediting body for colleges and universities that prepare teachers and other professional personnel for work in elementary and secondary schools. Through its voluntary, peer review process, NCATE ensures that accredited institutions produce competent, caring, and qualified teachers who can help all students learn. During this same visit, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing also reviewed teacher education programs at Chico State.
