MA: Writing Prompt
Dear Graduate Applicant,
Thank you for applying for admission to California State University, Chico and an advanced degree and/or credential program. Your application is being considered for admission by the Department of Education. A further step in the admission process is required. This e-mail requests a writing sample (described below) and additional demographic information that we collect for state and national accreditation purposes.
The Initial Education Writing Assessment
The California State University system requires graduate students to develop writing proficiency. As a condition of your acceptance, and in order for us to assist you in further development in writing, we request an original sample of your writing. Select one (1) of the topics listed below and discuss this issue in writing as it relates to public schooling and your specific area of interest. Your response should be limited to two single spaced pages plus references. Please e-mail your response to cguenter@csuchico.edu within two weeks of applying to the MA progam. Send as an attachment and be sure that your response is saved as either a .doc file (MS Word) or a .rtf file (Rich Text File). Your response will be used, in part, to make the decision regarding your acceptance to the graduate program.
