Admission Requirements
The following are admission requirements for the Graduate TESOL program:
- An acceptable baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or its equivalent approved by the Graduate and International Programs office
- TOEFL score of 550 (213 on computer-based test); essay rating of at least four
- Grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in last 60 units or last two years of undergraduate study
- Statement of purpose
- Three letters of recommendation
- Application to the Office of Graduate and International Programs and admission to postbaccalaureate status.
- Approval by the TESOL program advisor.
The GRE is not required, and there are no course prerequisites. Students may apply concurrently for admission to the MA in Teaching in International Languages. Admission to the Graduate TESOL Certificate Program does not necessarily qualify students for admission to Teaching International Languages or any other graduate program. Upon admission, students may apply course work in the TESOL Certificate toward the MA in Teaching International Languages, consistent with program and university policies and procedures. International students who qualify for conditional admission may attend the American Language and Culture Institute to further develop their English proficiency prior to beginning the program.
Estimated cost: $23,000 per year, including registration and tuition fees, estimated living costs, required health insurance, and books and supplies.
