Assistant Professor of Education
Paula M. Selvester has been teaching in the Department of Education at CSU, Chico for over ten years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English and teaching credential from CSU, Chico and her Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from San Francisco State University. She received her doctoral degree in Education Leadership from the University of Southern California.

She has taught courses in foreign and second language teaching methods, educational psychology, early literacy and reading comprehension. Her interests are literacy and language learning, second language acquisition, reading/language arts development for diverse learners and teacher education. Dr. Selvester has supervised student teachers all over the northstate.

She has 14 years of experience teaching literacy, English, writing and reading development in public and private schools here in the United States and internationally in England and North Africa. Her favorite quote is from Goethe: Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
