EGSC Workshop Series

The current EGSC is seeking to continue a tradition of assisting graduate students in English with their professional development. As part of that endeavor we have scheduled a number of workshops over the course of the semester to allow for group study geared towards common English graduate student needs.

EGSC Workshop #1: GRE Prep Session

One thing is for sure when it comes to taking the GRE Subject test in English, you can never be prepared enough. With that in mind, the EGSC is able to set up a GRE workshop to discuss a number of test taking strategies. This workshop gives an overview of the potential exam questions (both in form and content), recommend texts for studying for the exam and give an culminate in a forum for discussing how to study for the exam. Check back for more updates information as the workshop approaches.

EGSC Workshop #2: Writing an Abstract and Attending Conferences

Part of the EGSC's endeavor for the upcoming school year is to assist students with their professional development. One way to improve your market value when entering the real world is to have participated in and networked through academic conferences. This workshop helps students prepare abstracts for submission, generate realistic strategies for attending conferences and speaks to the many advantages of having attended conferences in your field of study.

The 2010-2011 EGSC is excited to continue these workshops! Check back for updated information on the EGSC Workshop series.
