The Department of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for assuring a safe work place at CSU, Chico.  While it is true there are many buildings at CSU, Chico with building materials containing asbestos and lead, these materials do not pose a hazard to employees unless they are disturbed.  Environmental Health and Safety maintains the Asbestos Management Plan, including an extensive sampling data base, while working closely with Facilities Management and Services, Ag Research Teaching Center (Farm), and University Housing and Food Services, to assure staff use proper work practices when working with asbestos containing materials.  If you have any questions regarding asbestos or lead, please do not hesitate to contact the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at extension 5126.
