ESL Resource Center Tutors
(Announcement)
Eligibility: Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.
Duties: The primary duty is to aid non-native English-speaking students in spoken and written English. Tutors will make recommendations and provide assistance to students who seek to improve their spoken and written English proficiency. Tutors will also maintain record-keeping for the Center and check out materials to students.
Hours: Students may accept multiple jobs within the University but may not exceed a total of 20 hours per week. The pay rate is $10.00 an hour.
Required qualifications: Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 2.67; graduate students 3.0. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in 6 hours of coursework; graduate students in 3 hours of coursework. (Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the university).
Preferred qualifications: Completion of English 372 or English 470 or their equivalents. Experience in teaching and tutoring English as a Second language. Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in the TESOL certificate program in the English Department.
