Fall 2007 Essay Contest
Deadline: Finals Week
Background
Each semester the Academic Writing Program publishes a resource guide. It explains the writing goals and practices of English 130 to in-coming students. An important part of the resource guide is a sampling of student essays that represent some of the best research writing from the previous semester.
To Submit an Essay
If you have an essay that you are especially proud of, please submit it to the essay contest! Writing professors will select three winners from the submissions who, along with having their essays published in the spring 2008 program handbook, will receive a gift certificate from the AS Bookstore.
The process for submitting your essay is simple:
- Work with your teacher to put some finishing touches on your best English 130 essay
- Submit your essay via e-mail to the following address: jswiencicki@csuchico.edu
- Sign a Consent to Publish form (PDF), and your teacher will submit it to Jill Swiencicki, the program coordinator
Writing became such a process of discovery that I couldn't wait to get to work in the morning: I wanted to know what I was going to say. "
