English 371 and 470  

English 371 , Principles of Language, is an introduction to linguistics. Topics include language acquisition, language structure, language variation, and languages of the world. The class is required in Block 1 of the CSUC Department of Education's Single-Subject and Multiple-Subject Credential Programs, and serves as a prerequisite for ENGL 470. English 470 , Theory and Practice of Second Language Acquisition, serves as an introduction to major issues in second language acquisition and teaching. It includes required field experience with second language learner(s). The course is a requirement in Block 2 of the Credential programs.

If you believe that you have taken a course which is equivalent to ENGL 371 or ENGL 470, please be prepared to show transcripts and course descriptions; a syllabus is especially helpful.
