Heather Altfeld is a teacher, cook, gardener, dishwasher, and expert folder of laundry who writes poetry and fiction in her abundant free time. She holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from California State University, Chico and a B.A. in Anthropology from Columbia University in New York. She has taught Academic Writing and Composition at Chico State and Shasta College for the last two years. She is also the Area Coordinator for the California Poets-in-the-Schools program, a statewide literary arts organization designed to bring the joy of reading and writing poetry to children grades K-12. She has worked as a Children’s Librarian, a professional baker, and has published several poems in literary anthologies. Her new book, entitled, “1001 Wonderful Books: A Guide to Children’s Literature” is available at Lyon Books. She works as a board member of the 1078 art gallery in downtown Chico.
