I lived all over the country as a child and a professional person, and spent some years abroad, so I have no good answer to "Where are you from?" and plenty to "Where have you been?". I have degrees from Kansas, Cornell, and Colorado. I have taught English as a second language, all levels of composition, descriptive English grammar, and literature from Beowulf to Virginia Woolf. I am the author of three books, including one on the dog family, and am pedaling as hard as I can on the fourth and fifth. Most significantly, I am the mother of a daughter and a son who did their undergraduate work at Chico State -and love this great region with its rivers, birds and mountains as much as I do .
