Kim Jaxon, a graduate of Chico State 's English Department, recently returned as a lecturer after leaving the department to pursue a PhD in education at UC Berkeley. She typically teaches first-year writing, focusing on the rhetoric of video games and issues in literacy. She also teaches in the Integrated Core Program working with future teachers. She is presently finishing her dissertation, which focuses on the role of professional development in teacher learning and the improvement of literacy instruction. She was raised in Chico and currently lives in Capay with her husband, two cool teenagers, some dogs, some cats, and some birds.
