Last day to add/drop classes (including ENGL 689T, 697, & 699 T/P)

Last day to apply for a master's degree expected in December 2009
19 October

Registration opens for Spring 2010 courses

6 November
Recommended deadline for defense copy of M.A. thesis to be distributed to all members of students' thesis committee*
13 November
Recommended deadline for completion of M.A. Thesis Oral defenses
13 November
Registration deadline for the Foreign Language Translation Exam (NOTE: Thesis Committee Chairs must submit proposed tests for exam to Graduate Coordinator by 5:00 p.m.)
20 November
Submit prelininary T.A. Application to English Main Office, Taylor 209, by 5:00 p.m. (firm deadline)**
23-27 November
Submit full TA Application to English Main Office, Taylor 209, by 5:00 p.m. (firm deadline)
30 November
Last day to submit approved thesis to the Graduate School for Fall Graduation
3 & 4 December
Foreign language exams

*Effective Fall 2009, only two readers (first/chair, and a second reader) are required. A third reader is optional but no longer required. Students who have formally constituted their thesis committee with the Graduate Coordinator as the third reader should proceed with their first and second readers only. Students who want a third reader will need to find a reader other than the Graduate Coordinator.
**All students, including those who have taught in previous semesters, are urged to read the latest, updated version of the Department “Hiring Guidelines for Teaching Associates,” available from the M.A. program webpage: http://www.csuchico.edu/engl/graduateprogram/index.shtml
