Jeanne E. Clark has published Ohio Blue Tips, which won
the the 1997 Akron Poetry Prize. Judge Alice Fulton wrote: "Jeanne E. Clark recreates
incendiary moments that strike like 'wood against wood, Ohio Blue Tips,' and transform us
forever." Clark has published poems in anthologies such as the National Poetry
Competition Anthology 1995 from the Chester H. Jones Foundation and Tumblewords:
Writers Reading the West, from University of Nevada Press. Her poems have appeared in
literary magazines including Calliope, Midwest Quarterly, The
Michigan Quarterly, and Quarterly West. She has published essays, articles,
and reviews, some on the subject of her Ph.D. dissertation, "Captivity Taken Captive:
The Prison Poetics of Emily Dickinson and Elizabeth Bishop." Clark
completed her Ph.D. at Arizona State University, from which she also holds an MFA in Creative Writing.
She has taught at ASU and the University of Phoenix/Scottsdale Community College. She has
also taught poetry workshops for prisoners and runaway and homeless adolescents.
