California State University, Northridge, is one of
the largest institutions of higher learning in California. It is the third-largest college
or university in Los Angeles County, after UCLA and CSU Long Beach. In fall 1997, student
enrollment was 27,653, served by 1,480 faculty members and a staff of 1,713. In 1996-97,
more than 3,561 students were graduated with bachelor's degrees in 50 disciplines; more
than 685 students achieved master's degrees in 40 disciplines.
