Accepting or Declining Your Aid
After you are notified by e-mail that you have a CSU, Chico estimated award offer, you must access your Student Center financial aid account and accept each financial aid award item, or funds will not go out when disbursements are made. If you do not accept your award within 45 days of offer, your award will be canceled.
Your Cal Grant award will remain an estimate until the governor signs the state budget and payment is sent to us from the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC).
Use your Student Center to:
- View your financial aid award
- Accept or decline your scholarship award
- Accept your grants, which are money you do not have to pay back
- Accept, reduce, or decline your Federal Work-Study award
- Accept, reduce, or decline your loan awards
Your financial aid estimated offer will be based on full-time enrollment, even if you indicated on your FAFSA that you plan to enroll in fewer units. Your financial aid award may be adjusted if you are enrolled in fewer than full-time units.
Your estimated financial aid offer will include a Federal Direct Stafford Loan offer if you have eligibility, even if you answered no to FAFSA question 31, "In addition to grants, are you interested in student loans?". This award is being offered to you to assist with meeting your educational expenses and is only an offer. Access your Student Center to view your financial aid award and accept, reduce, or decline this loan amount.
