Summer 2017 Financial Aid Information and Application

Priority Deadline: April 28, 2017 to defer fees

Requirements prior to submission of summer aid application:

You must:

  • Register for classes prior to submitting this application. Financial aid students must pay the difference between their registration fees and anticipated aid.  Students who do not meet the priority deadline must pay full fees within 48 hours.  There will be no fee deferment after April 28, 2017 for Financial applicants.

  • Have a 16/17 FAFSA on file. Your financial aid file must be complete, with all corrections and required documents reviewed by May 12, 2017.

Eligibility for summer aid:

  1. Undergraduates and Credential students may be eligible for summer Pell Grant. If you received pell grant and were enrolled full time (in a minimum of 12 units) for Fall and Spring semester, you have received the maximum amount for the 16/17 academic year. You will not be eligible for Pell grant during the summer session.

  2. Post-baccalaureate and graduate students:You must have made satisfactory academic progress, and be within the federal aid maximum units.

    • Requirements (180 attempted units undergraduates, 60 units attempted for post-baccalaureate students

  3. If you are in a conditionally classified post baccalaureate program and have already received aid as a conditionally classified student prior to Fall 2016, you will not be eligible for further financial aid until admitted into a Credential, Master’s, or second Bachelor’s degree program.

  4. Failure to attend classes after receiving aid will require repayment. 

  5. Course enrollment changes, including school cancellation of course(s), will result in adjustment of aid and repayment by you, if applicable.

  6. If you received a fee waiver or an outside agency paid your fees during the 16/17 academic year, we will assume continued receipt of benefits for summer.  Please contact us if you will no longer be eligible for these benefits in summer.

  7. If you would like to request loans after your initial summer aid application has been submitted, you will need to edit and submit changes on your summer aid application.

  8. There is no financial aid available for consortium agreements during the summer session.

Processing time and notification of eligibility:

  1. Applications will be reviewed in the order received.

  2. Notification of summer financial aid will be by e-mail. Check your Student Center. If you are denied, you must pay summer fees right away to avoid being dropped. 

  3. Disbursement dates are June 8, July 11, and July 27. Aid will be disbursed on the date that is not more than 10 days prior to the start of your first summer session. Please note: in some cases, the disbursement will occur after the start of your first class. If you are on academic probation or on a satisfactory academic progress contract, your aid will not be disbursed before July 6.

  4. If you have not already signed up for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to have your aid delivered directly to your checking account, we recommend you do. EFT sign-up is available through your Student Center. For instructions, see www.csuchico.edu/sfin/disbursement/eft.shtml.

Change in Enrollment for Summer Session:

RCE's Summer Session 2017 Add/Drop form is required May 19-June 2 to add/drop classes. 
Beginning June 5: You must complete both the Summer Change in Enrollment form along with RCE's Summer Session 2017 Add/Drop form. Financial Aid students MUST have approval by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office to change classes.
