Governor's Scholarship Award

The Governor’s Scholarship Programs were established in 2000, and awards were granted to students who earned qualifying scores on exams taken in 2000, 2001 and 2002. In 2003, the Governor’s Scholarship Programs was repealed. No awards were granted to students who earned qualifying scores on exams taken after December 31, 2002.

Awards granted to students who earned qualifying scores on exams taken in 2000, 2001 and 2002 must have been claimed by the five-year anniversary of the June 30th following the date of the qualifying exam. According to the California State Treasurer’s Web site, awards may no longer be claimed, as the deadline has passed.

Awards that were claimed prior to the deadline were placed into individual scholarship accounts and are administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board and managed by TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, Inc. until the student withdraws the funds or until the student reaches the age of 30.
