Finding a Job

To earn your Work-Study award you must be hired for a Work-Study position. You are not guaranteed a job if awarded Work-Study, but most students who want to work are able to find employment. The Student Employment Office in the Student Services Center, Room 270, is available to help you locate Work-Study jobs and other work through referrals to a wide variety of job opportunities. Friends, faculty, and staff can also be good sources of information for available jobs on campus.

Student employment staff can provide instructions for accessing the 24-hour job referral system on the Web. You will be able to search current job listings, create a personal profile for potential employers to view, and obtain application instructions for jobs that interest you. Work-Study jobs are competitive. You are advised to view updated job listings frequently and follow instructions immediately.

The Student Employment Office is open year-round. To utilize the services of the Student Employment Office, students may register with the SEO. Registration requirements are:

  1. Fill out blue registration card (available in office).
  2. Show one of the following combinations of identification:
  3. CSU, Chico student ID, CA driver’s license/CA identification card, and Social Security card (must be the actual card, not a copy).
  4. CSU, Chico student ID, CA driver’s license/CA identification card, and a passport (may be valid or expired).
  5. CSU, Chico student ID, CA driver’s license/CA identification card, and birth certificate (must be original or certified copy).
  6. CSU, Chico student ID, CA driver’s license/CA identification card, or an employment authorization.
  7. CSU, Chico student ID, CA driver’s license/CA identification card, and a military ID.
