EDFA Authorization Form

Student Financial Services (SFIN) disburses financial aid through Electronic Deposit of Financial Aid (EDFA).  EDFA permits delivery of your aid (after deduction of university charges) directly to your checking account, making the funds available to you on the scheduled disbursement date.

Scholarships (university and private), Bureau of Indian Affairs grants, private loans, and funds awarded by another institution are not electronically deposited.  See Disbursements "When It Has To Be A Check".

To Receive Your Aid

  1. Have a checking account in your name at almost any bank, savings and loan institution, or credit union, and have preprinted checks available 60 days before your first scheduled disbursement.
  2. Submit a completed EDFA Authorization to SFIN no later than 21 days before your first scheduled disbursement. Parents receiving PLUS Loans must complete a separate form with their account information.
  3. Complete all aid eligibility requirements as specified by SFIN and the Financial Aid Office, including pre-loan counseling, the borrower information form (for Federal Perkins Loan borrowers) and loan promissory notes.
  4. Confirm that the university has your current local and permanent addresses by checking your CSC Portal account. Change-of-address forms are available in The Class Schedule; with your Study List/Account Summary; from Student Records and Registration Office, Meriam Library 180; or by calling 530-898-4555.
  5. Check your CSC Portal account approximately 10 business days before each disbursement date to ensure that you are enrolled in the appropriate number of units and to check hold status. Holds will prevent electronic disbursement.
  6. Confirm electronic deposit (with your bank) and deduction of university charges (CSC Portal).

EDFA Authorization
Only one authorization form is required unless you change your name or bank account.  Immediately notify SFIN of any changes, as incorrect account information causes a substantial delay in your disbursement.  To obtain an authorization form:

Scholarships (university and private), Bureau of Indian Affairs grants, private loans, and funds awarded by another institution are not electronically deposited.  These types of aid will be applied to your student account after you have enrolled in the appropriate number of units and have cleared all holds.  Amounts in excess of charges on your account will create a financial credit.  In most cases, the credit will automatically be refunded to you by check mailed to your local address on your student record.
