The University Foundation Short Term Loan Program is a program offering loans generally for a maximum of $500 repayable to California State University, Chico within 90 days of the date of loan approval. The Short Term Loan application is only available on the Web.  For repayment information contact Student Loans and Past Due Accounts.

The following terms apply to the loan:

  1. A service charge of $5 will be deducted from the loan and must be repaid.
  2. Student Financial Services may, without notice, deduct the loan plus applicable charges from ANY disbursement of financial aid funds (including work study payroll) or any refunds due the borrower from the university and/or the State.
  3. Upon the borrower's withdrawal from CSU, Chico, the entire unpaid balance plus applicable charges becomes immediately due and payable without demand.
  4. Payment can be made without penalty anytime before the due date.
  5. Any change of the borrower's local or permanent address and/or phone number must be reported to Student Financial Services 530-898-6278.
  6. In the event of default (failure to make payment by the close of business on the due date):

    A hold will be placed on university services which will prevent enrollment in classes, disbursement of financial aid and/or pay checks and release of transcripts.

    A $25 late fee will be assessed.

    Loans unpaid 45 days from the due date may be turned over to a collection agency whereupon the borrower becomes obligated to pay the recovery fees charged by the collection agency in addition to the loan and campus late fee.

    The borrower becomes liable for such sums as the court may adjudge reasonable as attorney fees and/or legal costs if suit or legal action is instituted.

    Official records, files and related data may be released at the discretion of Student Financial Services for the purpose of effecting collection.

    The debt may be reported to a credit reporting agency.

    Student Financial Services may request intercept of state tax refunds or lottery winnings due the borrower from the State of California toward payment of the debt.

     
  7. Payments may be mailed to Student Financial Services, California State University, Chico, 400 W. First Street, Chico, CA 95929-0242, with the canceled check serving as receipt for payment so made. Payments may also be made on campus at Student Financial Services - Cashiering, Kendall Hall 212. Make checks payable to: California State University, Chico.
