Financial Aid Disbursement Information

Using Your Financial Aid to Pay University Charges

Registration Fees: All Financial Aid is posted to the student's account. If your disbursement is a sufficient amount to cover your fees and charges, the balance will be refunded to you via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or by check that is mailed to you. Financial aid recipients are required to pay the difference between all charges and registration fees and anticipated financial aid.

You will be charged a $25 late fee if your fees and charges are not paid by the fee payment deadline. Additional late fees may be charged and holds may be placed during the semester if fees and charges remain unpaid.

Student Financial Services (SFIN) disburses financial aid through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). EFT permits delivery of your aid directly to your checking account.

The following types of aid awarded by CSU, Chico are disbursed via Electronic Funds Transfer:

  • Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford/Ford Loan
  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford/Ford Loan
  • Parent Loan for Undergraduate Student (PLUS)
  • Federal Perkins Loan
  • Federal Pell Grant
  • State University Grant (SUG)
  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
  • Educational Opportunity Program Grant (EOPG)
  • Cal Grant A and B
  • Scholarships Private/Foundation
  • Alternative Loans

To Receive Your Aid by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

  1. Have a checking account in your name at almost any bank, savings and loan institution, or credit union, and have preprinted checks.
  2. Submit a completed EFT Authorization to SFIN. Parents receiving PLUS Loans must complete a separate form with their account information.
  3. Complete all aid eligibility requirements as specified by SFIN and Financial Aid Office, including pre-loan counseling, and loan promissory notes.
  4. Confirm that the university has your current local and permanent addresses by using your personal portal account on the Chico State Connection - CSC. Change-of-address forms are available from the Student Records and Registration Office, Meriam Library 180; or by calling 530-898-4555.
  5. Confirm electronic deposit (with your bank) before spending funds.

EFT Authorization

Only one authorization form is required unless you change your name or bank account. Immediately notify SFIN of any changes, as incorrect account information causes a substantial delay in your disbursement. To obtain an authorization form:

  • Print from the World Wide Web: EFT Authorization
  • Send an e-mail request to: cash@csuchico.edu
  • Visit: Student Financial Services, Kendall Hall 213
  • Phone: 530-898-5936
  • Write to: Student Financial Services, California State University, Chico,
    400 W. First Street, Chico, CA 95929-0242

To Receive Your Aid by Check

Checks are generally mailed to the student's local address that is on file with Student Records Office. If there is no local address they are mailed to the student's permanent address.

Confirm that the university has your current local and permanent addresses by using your personal portal account on the Chico State Connection - CSC. Change-of-address forms are available from the Student Records and Registration Office, Meriam Library 180; or by calling 530-898-4555.

Checks mailed to outdated addresses are often lost. It take several weeks to secure State Treasurer's Office approval to re-issue a lost check. Authorizing EFT is the easiest way to ensure timely receipt of your refund.
