Below are some of the more frequently asked questions from students concerning their financial aid. Here you will find information on financial aid refunds (disbursements), and leaving or dropping below half-time status at CSU, Chico.
Of course, if you need additional help with any questions, you may reach us through one of the means below.
- Do I need to sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) every year?
Only one authorization form is required unless you change your name or bank account. Immediately notify SFIN of any changes, as incorrect account information causes a substantial delay in your disbursement. You can obtain an authorization form at EFT Authorization or at Student Services Center, Room 230.
- Has my financial aid check been mailed?
Did you authorize EFT? If you have a refund that has to be a check, the check will be mailed to your local address , after you have completed all aid eligibility requirements. Check your status on your Portal account.
- I did not get my check. What should I do?
Contact Student Financial Services to determine the address to which the check was mailed. If the check is lost in the mail, you must wait 15 mailing days before completing a "stop payment" form in Student Financial Services, Student Services Center, Room 230.
- What is the amount of my financial aid refund?
Fees, financial aid and refund (disbursement) information is available on your CSC Portal account. SFIN cannot provide disbursements amounts over the telephone.
- How do I pay my registration fees and all University charges?
Your financial aid is posted to your student account once you have accepted it and completed all aid eligibilty requirements. If your aid exceeds the charges on your account, a refund (disbursement) will be issued. You must pay registration fees or have sufficient anticipated aid by the Fee Payment Deadline to avoid late fees and possible enrollment cancellation.
- I received loans and now I'm graduating. Who do I contact?
Contact Student Financial Services (SFIN) no sooner than 30 days before your last day of class.
- How do I find out about how much I owe on all my student loans?
After acquiring a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov you will be able to access your student loan history at the sites listed.
