Project Description
California State University, Chico is building a University Housing and Food Service Phase 1 complex on the CSU Chico campus. The proposed project site is approximately 1.7 acres, located in the northern-central area of the CSU Chico campus, immediately adjacent to Whitney Hall. The Residence Hall Activity Center, as well as the paved bicycle and vehicular parking, currently located on the site, will be removed as part of the proposed project. As proposed, the project consists of two buildings: one five-story university housing and food service facility for students, and the other a two-story program building. The residence portion will house 228 total people, including 220 students, 6 resident advisors, and 2 staff members. The food service facility is the first floor of the main building. The food service facility will replace the existing food service in Whitney Hall, and will serve all on-campus student residents. The program building will house a few offices, recreation space, and other program spaces for on-campus student residents. The total footprint of the two buildings is approximately 32,000 square feet (ground floor). The proposed project is consistent with the University’s adopted Campus Master Plan.
