The Italian Studies Program is part of the Foreign Languages and Literatures department in the College of Fine Arts.

A degree in Italian Studies: Both a minor and a major are offered at CSU, Chico. The Major requires special arrangements; please contact Dr. Frongia for further information. The Italian Studies Minor requires a total of 28 units, 16 in lower-division language courses (Italian 001-004) and 12 in upper-division courses, six of which must be in courses taught in Italian. Some courses taken at programs abroad may be counted towards the minor. Please see the online schedule of courses for an updated list of available classes.

CSU, Chico is now among the few Universities in America to offer Italian American studies. Topics include: the history and trends of Italian immigration, the struggle and success of Italian immigrants in different parts of the world and especially in the United States and California, the contributions Italian Americans made to all aspects of the American society. Dr. Frongia teaches Italian American Studies.
