The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures is committed to the meaningful integration of technology into the curriculum. In order for such integration to occur, the department must achieve the following goals.

• Each professor and lecturer is comfortable with the use of the computers in their offices and are trained in a number of productivity tools.
• Each professor and lecturer is trained in the use of the MLLC hardware and software.
• Each professor and lecturer has gained competency in the understanding and use of technology in the classroom as it relates to foreign language pedagogy and will integrate this information into their instruction.
• Each professor and lecturer has access to training, technical and project developmental support from the Director of the Language Lab and other university resources.

In keeping with these goals, a faculty in-service training program has been created. Prior to the installation of the MLLC equipment in the Fall 1998 semester, weekly in-service training sessions were held. With the opening of the MLLC for the Spring 1999 semester, training will occur on a monthly basis. In coming semesters, half or all day workshops will take place to build on the foundations of this year's training and to provide faculty with the time necessary for further hands-on work with the MLLC equipment.
