SARA E. COOPER, Ph.D., California State University, Chico
DONALD D. MILLER, Ph.D., California State University, Chico

Objectives: To offer more open-ended communicative and integrative activities for use with Plazas.  The Discussion activities promote progressively more intellectual and emotional discussion of topics, in which students have to stretch their abilities and practice dictionary use.  The Role-Plays allow students to practice real-life situational and practical use of language.  The Simulations require more set-up and planning, to simulate as much as possible of the physical atmosphere for authentic language use.  The Lab activities utilize current technology, especially internet, to foster investigation and discussion about language and culture.  The main objective of each exercise is for the students to gain communicative competency in Spanish.
