Char Prieto is a Professor of Spanish. She has a B.S. from Indiana University, a M.E from Purdue University and Ph.D. in Spanish literature from Purdue University, Indiana. Born in Spain. Educated in Paris, London and Barcelona she now lives in the USA. Professor Prieto's expertise is twentieth century Spanish women novel and historical new millennium narrative. At California State University, Chico she teaches Spanish language, literature, history, and culture. She is in charge of the Spanish Conversation Hour for students and community. She has authored a book entitled Four Decades Four Authors about Spanish life and literature under the Franco’s dictatorship and Bahktinian theory. She also has published Between Two Worlds, a book of poems, as well as numerous articles and creative work. At the present time, she is working on a book about new millennium Spanish women writers. Professor Prieto loves Chico and the university. She is enchanted
with this agricultural and cultural region and likes specially the natural
beauty of this area, the environment, and the feeling of tolerance and
respect as well as the innovative approaches to ethnicity, culture,
health and different lifestyles. She appreciates very much the music,
culture, arts, exhibitions and performances, and political views that
Chico offers. She feels like California is very much like her own country.
The weather, the vegetation, and architecture remind her of Spain. She
feels like Chico is her home. Professor Prieto loves to travel and to
study different cultures. She has been to five continents and many countries.
