COURSE OBJECTIVES: The
course will offer a comprehensive study of the Spanish language from a
linguistic point of view. Students
will be introduced to the terminology and theory of language analysis. Principles fo Spanish phonology,
morphology, and syntax will be emphasized and contrasted to the systems
inherent in English. Regional
variations of spoken Spanish will also be studied.
ACTIVITIES: Daily
discussions on assigned reading materials, exercises, practice and small group
work. Periodic homework will be
assigned. During the last weeks of
the semester, students will present to the class a summary of their term paper.
