Facilities Management & Services

Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Facilities Management and Services Department is to serve the University's mission and various constituents in a proactive manner. Facilities Management and Services maintains, operates, and protects the University facilities and environs to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, safe and healthy for the University community, and attractive for University visitors while preserving the University's physical heritage for future generations. We also support appropriate University and student-sponsored events.

Current Divisions & Associated Missions:

The Administrative Services division's primary mission is to support the functions of the department's operating divisions by coordinating communication and information and performing required administrative duties in compliance with applicable University and State regulations. This division is also responsible for assisting the coordination of departmental support activities for University sponsored and/or approved events.

The Building Trades division's primary mission is to maintain and protect the structural and surface portions of the University's physical facilities and the University's fleet in a manner conducive to learning, safe for the University community, attractive for University visitors and prospective students, and functional for future generations.

The Computer Services division's primary mission is to maintain departmental computer equipment and to acquire and distribute software and computer equipment used by the Department in the execution of its missions.

The Custodial Services division's primary mission is to maintain, clean, and protect the interior portions of the University's facilities in a manner conducive to learning, safe for the University community, and attractive for University visitors and prospective students. The secondary mission is to prepare and maintain University facilities for University sponsored and/or approved events.

The Design Services division's primary mission is to assure compliance with applicable regulations and codes for the maintenance, operation, and protection of the University's facilities in a manner conducive to learning, safe for the University community, attractive for University visitors and prospective students, and functional for future generations.

The Engineering and Mechanical Trades division's primary mission is to maintain, operate and protect the University's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing facilities in a manner conducive to learning, safe for the University community, and functional for future generations. The secondary mission is to operate the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as needed for University sponsored and/or approved events.

The Grounds division's primary mission is to maintain and protect the University's natural environs in a manner conducive to learning, safe for the University community, attractive for University visitors and prospective students, and functional for future generations. The secondary mission is to prepare and maintain University facilities for University sponsored and/or approved events.
