Projects in the Periscope

We have many, many projects in design and construction. Here is a current update of those projects that are larger in size. There are many smaller projects that are on the projects listing and their status can be found at: www.csuchico.edu/fms/Projects/MainProjectDatabase.pdf

CUSTODIAL SERVICES:All stripping and waxing done this summer was transitioning to the use of Green Seal floor products. Approximately 1400 gallons of the new Green Seal floor wax was applied. We did however, still need to use the traditional stripper to remove the old wax. Next summer the transition should be complete and all floor products will be Green Seal certified!

WILDCAT ACTIVITY CENTER: Remediation work continues. Off-Site Utilities, Sewer, Fire Water and Power will be completed prior to the 27th of August. Currently working with PG & E to extend the new gas and electrical services. Cal Water will be setting the hydrant on West 1st Street next week. Main Building Drawings are completed, project has been Bid and contracted. Building is within Budget. Kick-off Meeting will be scheduled for the end of August.

STUDENT SERVICES CENTER: The Student Services Center continues on track for completion this spring. Construction is now 50% completed. The utility tie-ins are newarly completed and full use of the walkway south of the Library will be restored prior to the start of the semester.

NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM: The environmental consultant is preparing to provide the traffic study. We need to wait until the fall semester is in session in order to obtain real traffic figures for the report. The building design is at 100% preliminary design and comments are due back to the Architect from the University on Aug. 30th.

UNIVERSITY HOUSING AND FOOD SERVICE BUILDING: The bid package for demolition is in final reviews and will be released within the next week. The design for the new building is at 100% preliminary design and comments went back to the Architect for incorporation into the documents. The environmental review document is out for public comment and comments are due in Facilities Planning by August 17th.

BOILER CHILLER PLANT-REPLACE CHILLER: Plans are at the Chancellor's office for review. Work is planned for this winter.

BOILER CHILLER PLANT- PLATE TO PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER: Plans are with NMR. Work is planned to be coordinated with chiller replacement and done this winter.

GLENN HALL REROOF: Plans are with the Chancellor's Office for review. This will need to be done next summer. O'CONNELL REROOF: Plans are nearing final completion. Still needs Chancellor's Office review. Has been scheduled now for next summer. PAC - REPLACE

CHILLER: Plans will begin this month, NMR to do the design. Our goal is to do this work this winter as well.

UNIVERSITY STADIUM-RESTROOMS: Funding is being finalized and project has been designed. Will need Phase I assessments for Archeological and Environmental review. The schedule is to have it open by Commencement 2008.

LAXSON- STAGE RIGGING REPAIRS: The contractor is currently working in Laxson to upgrade and change out many of the systems. On schedule to be completed by August 17th.

WHITNEY HALL- ELEVATOR UPGRADES: Project is at 30% completion. Both elevators will be back in operation for the beginning of the fall semester. The remainder of the work will occur during the Winter break and intersession.

CAMPUSWIDE-FIRE ALARM CENTRALIZATION: Successful completion of this safety related project which upgraded equipment and allows for centralization of the alarms back to UPD and the FMS office. The final testing of the system was completed in the buildings this week. Annual and 5 year certification of all sprinklered buildings was completed.

BMU-MONITORING BASED COMMISSIONING (METERING PROJECT): A kick off meeting and information has been gathered and sent, the next phase is metering and a snapshot of operations as the baseline, so after the project a comparison can be made this is at 25% completion.

SIERRA HALL-EXTERIOR REFURBISHMENT (WINDOWS,DRYROT, PAINT): Project has started to replace windows, repair the facia board and repaint. Contractor has 60 days to complete the work. Exterior colors will match Sapp Hall.

CARD ACCESS STATUS: -SHC,Ayres, Holt, Glenn and Tehama at 90% completion -Taylor using key box only since it is due to be remodeled as a Major Cap project in 2 years -Work remaining to be done in Modoc, MLIB, CCE, Colusa, Acker

CAMPUSWIDE SAFETY SIGNAGE TO WALK BIKES: This project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of the semester.

LASSEN- RENOVATE INTERIORS: This project is at 90% completion and scheduled for completion by move - in. -

REPLACE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM: This project is also at 90% completion. -

CARPET REPLACEMENT: This project is also at 90% completion.

O'CONNELL AND HOLT PUMPS PROJECT: Booster pumps were removed as part of this energy conservation project funded by PG&E. We are estimating a $50,000 annual savings from this project.

O'CONNELL -REPLACE FIRE RATED CORRIDOR DOORS: Work completed. ADA

PARKING IMPROVEMENTS: Glenn Hall parking area replaced using pervious concrete. Work to be completed in two weeks.

LAXSON ADA RESTROOM: 75% complete

TAYLOR ADA WORK: Lever door handles replaced and Medeco keyways installed. Building is on the key box system.

TRINITY ADA WORK: Lever handles and Medeco keyway change out complete. Handrails to be complete by Aug. 15.

 

SMART CLASSROOMS:

-Shurmer 101: 20 % complete

-PAC 210: 40% complete

-Langdon 106: 20% complete

-Modoc 221: Design completed

-Glenn 210: 80% completed

-Glenn 308: 75% completed

-Holt 173: 80% completed

-Holt 185: 80% completed -OCNL 121,123: 93% completed

-Yolo 119, 142: 20% completed -PHSC 109: 90% complete

-PLMS 312: 90% complete -Lang 105: 90% complete

-Glenn 202: 90% complete -Taylor 106: 90% complete

-Lang 107: 90% complete -Tehama 312: 90% complete

 

GLENN HALL INTERIOR PAINTING OF ALL CORRIDORS AND CLASSROOMS: -Completed.

LAXSON SOUNDPROOFING AT STAGE :-Completed

35 MAIN STREET HVAC WORK: -Project is in construction and at 40% completion. Phase I is nearing completion, then Phase II will begin.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE LAB BOILER REPAIR: -Lab boiler was rebuilt and is back into service for use.

UNIVERSITY VILLAGE: -Siding replacement being done by DOC contractor, restroom work is still in process, painting of exterior to be completed by Housing staff. All work is scheduled to be complete by the fall semester.

HOLT 157/207/291 & HOLT 379/381 projects: -Job start has been held, construction is at 20% completion, work will continue into the fall semester. Department is okay with that and working around the construction.

LASSEN STORAGE BUILDING: -Design is in back check with Willdan and Rutherford & Chekene. Anticipate proposal going to DOC within 2 weeks.

MODOC 114-CLASSROOM RENOVATION: -60% complete. Floor has been infilled to make level for ADA compliance, concrete now, floor tile to be installed at Thanksgiving Break.
