"Preserving the Past, Constructing the Future" Projects in the Periscope We have many, many projects in design and construction. Here is a current update of those projects that are larger in size. There are many smaller projects that are on the projects listing and their status can be found at: www.csuchico.edu/fms/Projects/MainProjectDatabase.pdf TII Project Update - Phase I is 100% complete. The phase II portion of this project includes installation of the new electronics by ATT into the telecommunications rooms. Scott Claverie in CSRV is scheduling (ITRP Project) this portion of work (15% completed). The impacts should be minimal as the new equipment is installed and the cables are transferred from the old to new equipment. Student Services Center - Archeological finds, design and sequencing challenges did not impact the December target for completion of the foundation systems but the rain did. The project has met with some weather delays but should not impact the overall building completion schedule. Upon completion of the foundation work, the work will scale down consisting mainly of utility infrastructure work such as the steam line extension south of the Library. The steel delivery is scheduled for March 19, 2007. After steel delivery, the building will go into full construction. Chilled water tie-in is complete to campus system. For more information about the Student Services Center, please consult our 4 week look ahead construction schedule at: www.csuchico.edu/fms/Projects/CSUC LAS043007.pdf and www.csuchico.edu/fms/Projects/CSUC LAS0430071.pdf Wildcat Activity Center - Architect has completed 100% design development. The Wildcat Activity Center is currently in the construction design phase. Final plans are due the end of February and hopefully will go to bid about six weeks after that. Construction will start this summer with an anticipated completion date of Winter 2008/09. The WAC is a $59,824,000, 109,000 square foot state of the art recreation facility. This new center will have a three-court gym, a multiple-activity court, climbing wall and bouldering area, indoor running track, four multipurpose exercise rooms, 15,000 square foot fitness facility, and a 10 lane recreational pool and spa. As part of the University's commitment to sustainability this facility is planned for LEED Silver. During the demolition 95% of the warehouse materials were diverted from landfill. The buildings were taken down piece by piece and reused or recycled. Two of the main resources in the warehouses will be reused in the Wildcat Activity Center; the wood beams in the warehouses will be milled and used as a wood accent in the lobby and the remainder will be used to build furniture and benches for the facility; the cement will also be reused, it will be ground on site and mixed in the cement used for the center. Demolition work is completed. PG&E coordination -FMS received the plans for relocation of the 12Kv from PG&E on January 3, 2007. Campus to review immediately in order to proceed with this relocation.
