CSU, Chico is now offering a comprehensive network program, called PATH Scholars, to support the educational goals of current and former foster youth, as well as unaccompanied homeless youth. PATH is an acronym for Promoting Achievement Through Hope. Students can benefit from a supportive community of peers and staff to promote success and connectedness during their college experience. Services include more personalized financial aid services, counseling, advising, and tutoring services as well as connecting students with resources on campus and in the community.
Through a Walter S. Johnson Foundation Implementation Grant, CSU, Chico is strengthening its commitment to increase the number of foster youth who successfully enroll, persist, and graduate with a four-year degree. This collaboration includes Butte College and Shasta College, and will facilitate a smoother transition for former foster youth from these community colleges.
