FACULTY AND STUDENT POLICIES COMMITTEE MINUTES
PRESENT: Henderson (proxy Roberts) Johansen, Jones (proxy Corral), Kotar,
Matray, Mills, Postma (proxy Trailer) Richardson (proxy Kotar), Trailer, Roberts, Tropea (proxy Yudell), Whitlock, Yudell, Mehl, , Steiner (proxy Johansen), Place, Schurr, Nix-Baker

1. The minutes from February 5, 2009 FASP meeting were approved as modified (unanimous vote).
2. The agenda was approved with minor modifications to the order (no vote).
3. Proposed changes to Animal Welfare Policy EM 93-01. Action Item (Wright). After a short discussion, motion was made to approve changes (M/Corral, S/Roberts) unanimous passed. Kotar agreed to send out “cleaned copy” with the changes to the committee members and to Jeff Wright.
4. Announcements
University Budget committee will meet on February 26, 2009.
Upcoming FASP items:
• Student Groups (student affairs)
• FPPP revisions (Siegal)
• Range elevations for lecturers (Nix-Baker)
• Religious holidays (Mills)
• Proposed staff changes (Corral) including 10 hour days in the summer and return to three day traditional holidays for campus as a whole.
5. Proposed changes to FPPP Sections 6 and 8. Action Item (Siegal). Kotar called vote-to approve with changes to make the period of review equivalent for both decision. Passed unanimous.
6. Proposed changes to Nepotism policy EM 05-16. Introduction Item. (Mills/M, Yudell/S) Lengthy discussion on several items, wording was
amended, statement of revised draft was struck. Kotar moved to suspend the rules and move the policy proposal to action (Nix-Baker/S). Proposed policy passed as an Action Item with one abstention.
7. New FPPP/CBA Cross referenced table for placement in FPPP. Introduction Item. (Kotar/M, Roberts/S) unanimously passed. Plan is to move to action item to send to the senate as part of larger revisions of FPPP.
8. Proposed changes to the Sabbatical Leaves policy in FPPP to align with Unit 3 CBA. (Mills/M, Kotar/S). Corral moved to suspend the rules and move to action item (Matray/S). Unanimously passed as action item.
