Outstanding Research Menor - Colleen Hatfield
Biological sciences professor Colleen Hatfield has been a CSU, Chico faculty member since 2005. Hatfield has established an excellent track record of collaborative research, including giving more than 38 professional presentations and 20 poster symposiums involving students. Under her mentorship, students have successfully secured more than $100,000 in grants. An excellent instructor, she challenges her students with complex material while maintaining a supportive learning environment. She is the recipient of the Department of Biological Sciences' 2013 Excellence in Teaching Award and the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching's (CELT) 2008 Exemplary Online Instruction Award.
Since joining CSU, Chico, she has received eight grants and contracts. Hatfield encourages her students to present their work at conferences and symposiums, helps them establish networks with agencies and non-governmental organizations, and pushes them to hone their skills as scientists. She holds a doctorate degree in biology from the university of New Miexico, Albuquerque.
