Lambda Theta Phi

On December 1, 1975, history was made – history on a college campus, which would transcend other colleges/universities throughout the United States; history which would have a positive impact on the Latino community and our nation; history which would forever change the Greek system, more specifically, the entity known as a fraternity. On December 1, 1975, Lambda Theta Phi was founded on the campus of Kean College in Union, New Jersey. Doctor Cayetano Socarrás and Doctor José Quiles are the Fraternal Fathers of Lambda Theta Phi, as well as fourteen Founding Fathers.Their love and dedication to this organization has been extraordinary and Lambda Theta Phi would not be where it is at today without them. Our national philanthropy is Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute‘s (CHCI) R2L NextGen Program. For nearly 40 years, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) has forged a critical pathway to Educate, Empower, and Connect our nation's future Latino/Minority leaders, creating a transformative and lasting Impact on Latino youth and our nation. Our colors are brown and white, our flower is the white carnation, and we have over 160 chapters and colonies across the nation. Our motto that we stand by is “Chivalry Above Self." Lambda Theta Phi firmly supports a non-hazing approach to membership intake. The Fraternity actively works to train its members about hazing, its effects, how to identify it, and how to speak out if necessary. We take pride in what we stand for by creating a life long brotherhood.
