Welcome to Chico State! Meet Your Friendly First-Year Experience Staff:

The First-Year Experience Program staff members share a common belief in fostering social and academic communities for first-year students like you, in order to provide a rich, supportive learning environment where your unique perspective is welcomed and valued.

Key FYE values include presenting ample opportunities for students’ self-exploration and engagement with the campus, as well as exploration of the surrounding community of Chico. FYE works to complement in-class learning with out-of-class activities that will engage you socially. Some of these events are organized and hosted by Peer Mentors, returning CSU, Chico students responsible for helping you and your peers negotiate your new surroundings. Through our TeachBack Program of tech-savvy students, we also provide you with technical assistance in using our campus’s online classroom platform, Vista/WebCT, and we are happy to work with you in supporting your learning using other technologies.

We know the most reliable source of information about you is…you! FYE looks to students like you for ideas about how to enable you and your peers to fulfill your social, academic and civic aims. We take every opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with you and your Peer Mentors in order to facilitate high achievement and satisfaction in your individual goals.
